No discussion of a truly clean kitchen or bathroom would be complete without addressing the great importance of cleaning and maintaining your tile and grout. The grout in between the tiles can collect and trap moisture, dirt, and nasty bacteria that accumulates in the crevices. Here’s a simple and yet highly effective way to clean your grout, and save your floors from looking grimy!

You will need:

–          ¾ Cup Baking Soda

–          ¼ Cup Bleach

–          An old/used toothbrush you will not use anymore

–          2 Large Bowls/Containers

–          Hot Water

–          Clean Towel/Cloth

–          Rubbergloves (bleach may irritate your skin if you don’t wear gloves)

  1. Begin, by mixing the baking soda and bleach together in a bowl, until the consistency is  similar to a thick paste.
  2. Next, simply apply the cleaning mixture to the grout lines on your floor, and give your grout a good scrubbing using the toothbrush.
  3. Leave the cleaning mixture on the grout for at least 10 minutes before washing the floors, that way it has enough time to soak in and give the grout a deep, thorough cleaning. You could also just rinse the mixture off whenever you finish scrubbing the last lines of grout.
  4. To wash off the baking soda and bleach mixture, fill a clean bowl with hot water. Dip your clean cloth into the bowl of hot water and wipe off the cleaning mixture. It might be necessary to repeat this process a few times in order to fully remove all of the baking soda and bleach mixture.
  5. Allow your floors ample drying time & that’s it! Remember, that grout turns darker when it’s wet, but once it is fully dried your grout should be glittering white.

You don’t have to let your floors or shower become a breeding ground for dirt and bacteria. With this easy homemade grout cleaner, you can have that grout shining in no time!
