Many bathrooms face the infestation of lime scale from time to time.  Lime scale are hard, white chalky deposits found in hot water boilers, and the interiors of inadequately maintained hot water central heating systems. In the general home residence, lime scale is often found on bathroom surfaces like sinks, tubs, and toilets, where hard water has evaporated. Hard water can be pinpointed on taps where hard water has been continually running, and has deposited calcium carbonate.

There are many lime scale eliminating cleaners you can buy at the store, or you can also make your own cleaning solution. CLR is an effective cleaner that targets calcium, lime, rust, and hard water deposits. But, you can clean your bathroom using some ingredients that you already have. You will need white vinegar, lemon juice, borax, paper towels, a sponge, and clean wash cloths.

For cleaning faucets, soak a washcloth in white vinegar and wrap the towel around the faucet head. If it doesn’t stick, secure it with a clip or rubber band. Allow the vinegar to work for about an hour, and then wipe the faucet clean with a clean washcloth.

For cleaning bathroom sinks and tubs, pour white vinegar or lemon juice in a spray bottle. Spray the basin and let the solution sit for 30 min to an hour. Next, scrub the sink or tub with a sponge, or washcloth.

For cleaning shower doors and windows, spray white vinegar on them to remove mineral buildups. It’s good to buy a squeegee for your shower, if you wipe your showers doors from top to bottom every time after you shower, you can lessen the effect of hard water.

For cleaning toilets, mix equal parts of borax and white vinegar. You will need to initially drain the toilet bowl before pouring the solution in. Le the solution sit and work for 1 to 2 hours, before scrubbing with a toilet brush. Keep your toilet tank clean by adding 3 cups of undiluted white vinegar to it.
