Tips for Removing Makeup from Clothes

Have you ever tried on clothing and noticed some makeup smudges on the lining of the clothing? Makeup stains are a common everyday stain.  Your significant other might have found some makeup residue on your pillow, but tell them to take a chill pill.  It’s quite simple to remove makeup stains, you just need to know what you’re working with.

If there are any clumps of makeup still on the article of clothing, grab a butter knife and scrape any excess of the product off. It’s important to do this step specifically because you do not want to smear the stain any bigger. Even powder makeup can smudge heavily if the excess powder isn’t removed before cleaning.

Here are several tips on removing different makeup products from clothing

  1. Spray the item of clothing with clean water, just be sure not to drench it completely. Take a drop or two liquid dish soap and rub the stain with your fingers. Next, you proceed to gently rub the stain with a toothbrush. Sprits the clothing with more clean water, and take a clean towel to gently dab the area.
  2. Use hairspray. Alcohol-based products tend to remove makeup easily. Simply spray the affected area with hairspray and begin to blot the stain with a clean towel. This works the best for lipstick stains.
  3. Take some shaving cream (Do not use shaving gel) and rub it onto the stain. Allow the shaving cream to settle for 10 minutes. Wash it with cold water first. If the stain hasn’t fully removed, repeat this process then wash it with warm water.
  4. Baby wipes are extremely convenient to have an on hand when you’re on the go and don’t have access to the lavatory.
  5. Mix a solution of white distilled vinegar and water. Then using a clean towel to dab the solution onto the stain until it disappears.

There are so many different methods you can choose to get rid of makeup stains. When it comes to removing these kinds of stain it is a lot easier than you think. There’s no need to fret though, it only takes a little patience and effort.
