We all love our teeth clean and shiny but who would have guessed that a little tube of toothpaste has many other uses besides keeping our teeth clean and healthy?  Most toothpaste has ingredients including baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, menthol, essential oils, Triclosan (antifungal and antibacterial agent) and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is an anionic surfactant used in many cleaning and hygiene products. These all have a drying effect so be cautious when using this product.

Examples for using toothpaste in your home:

  • Cleaning your tile grout lines to remove dirt and debris on your tile floors.  Use your toothbrush with a little water and scrub your grout lines.  This will help lift dirt and debris that has been caked on for a long time.  Rinse and repeat as needed.
  • Cleaning your kitchen sink with toothpaste will help loosen up greasy grime that has been imbedded in your sink.  It makes your drainage fresh and deodorized at the same time
  • In a rush and need to clean your diamond ring, give it a quick brush with little toothpaste and water.  It’s a quick fix and it does the work.
  • Little dab of toothpaste can help dry up your pimples but be careful not to use too much it does cause redness and peeling on sensitive skin.
  • Those pesky little cold sores that pop up out of nowhere… and you need something fast, toothpaste has an drying ingredient that helps dry it up and it soothes at the same time.

It’s hard to believe something you use every day can be a helpful remedy for your home.  If you look around, you might come up with many uses of toothpaste of your own “Miracle in a Little Tube”.
