We all need to get our carpets cleaned every 3-6 months out of the year.  But how do you know what method is best for you?  It’s all about preference for many consumers depending on their personal needs and wants of their daily life style.  There is a difference in both methods that you need to consider.

Spin bonnet cleaning:

Is referred to as “dry cleaning” method.  It uses low moisture does not saturate the padding. So, no soggy floors or waiting time to walk on the carpets. More time to spend with your family.   A spray a detergent or solvent is sprayed on the on tops of carpet fibers with an absorbent pad attached to a machine.  The machine spins at a high RPM to agitate the carpet fibers to remove the stains onto the bonnet.  The padding will have to be replaced through-out the cleaning depending on how much soiling is on your carpets.  More heavily soiled stains the more pads that will be used during this process.  You need to make sure the pads are washed before your next use.  The advantages of spin bonnet would be less drying time for you and your family members.  But this method is not recommended for heavily soiled stains.  This is not a deep cleaning method to get deep in the padding.

Hot Water Extraction:

Is also referred to as “steam cleaning “although no steam is used.  They come in 2 different ranges from portables to truck mounted systems.  Hot water extraction uses electricity to heat the water and power the water pump and vacuum motors.  Portables are great for hard to reach places that truck mounts cannot reach.  Portables come in handy like on 3rd floor of apartment buildings that are hard to reach.   Truck mounted systems definitely have the most power for your cleaning.  Hot water extraction can keep your carpets look more beautiful and lasting longer.  Extending the life of your carpets through regular, good care can save you lots of money over the long-term.  Carpets cleaned with the hot water extraction method can be used within hours of cleaning. The final advantage of this method is that it sanitizes as well as cleans. We heat the water used for this method to temperatures between 220 and 230 degrees Fahrenheit which is hot enough to leave the surfaces effectively sanitized.

Most cases if you have really bad stains and odor, hot water extraction is the only way to remove the bacteria causing odor.  You must consult with your professional carpet cleaners on the many options that are available to you.  There is a huge difference in spin bonnet and hot water extraction.  You have to see which one is right for you.
